A serial entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley, Zaid manages RTMZ Investments Inc. with interests in Technology, VC, F&B, and Real Estate.
Currently, Zaid serves as a Board Director and Mentor for Technology startups and is involved with the development of the fast-casual food concept – SAJJ Mediterranean (www.sajj.com). He is a Venture partner and member of the Investment Committee for Silicon Badia, a global VC fund.
Zaid co-founded Dimensions Consulting Inc. (DCI) in 1992 and ran it until 2007. DCI focused on Engineering, Design, and Manufacturing of High-Performance Test Products for the Semiconductor Industry. Customers included Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Apple, NVIDIA, and AMD. DCI acquired Liberty Research in 1999, and then Zaid led the sale of DCI to Credence Systems, a publicly traded global Automated Test Equipment maker, in 2000. Zaid negotiated management buyouts in 2002, where he took DCI private again and changed DCI’s business model by adopting a flexible manufacturing model. DCI expanded to Southeast Asia – Singapore and established an electrical engineering design outsource center in Jordan, where they lowered direct engineering costs by 50%. The company was sold to UMD Technologies in 2006 (part of Invest Corp).
Before DCI, Zaid worked for National Semiconductor (Texas Instruments) and Best IC Labs. Zaid is a co-founder of Connect.JO, the network building a Jordanian Professional Diaspora in the US (www.connect.jo). He also was Program Director for JTronix, the entity entrusted to build an Electronics Design Industry in Jordan (www.jtronix.com). Zaid was a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Scientific Society in Jordan (www.rss.jo), and he served a 2-year term as a Board member of the Jordan Investment Boards (JIB) (www.jib.goc.jo).
Zaid received his MBA and BSEE with an emphasis on Computer Architecture from Santa Clara University and completed the post-graduate Executive Program for Growing Companies at Stanford University.
